Lower Big Hole River Corridor Assessment
for the Big Hole Watershed Committee
The combination of several factors, including irrigation withdraws, loss of wetland habitat, and the development of side channels into ditches, led to thermal impairments and reduced the productivity of local fisheries in lower segments of the Big Hole River.
- Improve irrigation by replacing the current headgate structure and installing an additional fish passage structure
- Improve wetland function by increasing vegetation cover
- Stabilize bank configuration
- Reactivate side channels
