Projects > Lost Creek Restoration
Confluence was contracted by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks to perform restoration design, bank stabilization, construction management, and oversight for three Lost Creek restoration projects totaling 6 miles of channel.
Confluence specified sod borrow areas, willow placements, and designed a wetland seed mix specifically for the alkaline soils located along Lost Creek to revegetate impacted areas within each of the project reaches. In all, approximately 36,000 willow sprigs were planted and 800 mature willows transplanted. The final project was completed in 2005. The long-term success of the project is assured by installing riparian fencing and developing riparian grazing management plans for each project. This project has resulted in significant improvements to water quality and restored miles of spawning, rearing, and adult trout habitat.
