Brown’s Gulch is a key tributary to Silver Bow Creek.  The Natural Resource Damage Program (NRDP) identified inadequate streamflow in Brown’s Gulch as a priority within the watershed.  Confluence water resource engineers completed a study to identify opportunities for increasing in-stream flows in Lower Brown’s Gulch by addressing irrigation infrastructure and water management.  Components of the study included measuring monthly flow measurements, installing stage recorders, measuring flow upstream, and performing a seepage run.  A bathymetric survey was completed using GPS for a reservoir to determine its existing capacity.  Well data and water rights were analyzed on private property.  Discharge was calculated from velocity measurements, flow depths, and measurement stationing.

Confluence water resource engineers analyzed stream flow at several diversion structures.
