Projects > Streamside Tailings Operable Unit Remedy Performance Monitoring

Since 2004, Confluence has conducted comprehensive water quality monitoring on a 27-mile reach of Silver Bow Creek to monitor environmental response to large scale remediation of mine tailings and restoration of the entire stream channel. Data collection and analysis components include water quality, stream sediment, macroinvertebrate, and periphyton sampling at 11 sites; groundwater monitoring at 18 wells, vadose zone monitoring at 7 lysimeters, and a geomorphic analysis of the channel 5 years following reconstruction. Confluence also assisted the Montana Department of Environmental Quality in developing the comprehensive long term monitoring plan for Silver Bow Creek.
